Thoughtful tools for thoughtful making.
Quilt & Piece brings a few useful quilting calculations into one calm, practical workspace.
Made around your project
Use an individual calculator for a quick answer, or bring binding, backing and block sizes together in the project planner. All calculators are free. You can save projects without creating an account.
Measurements and assumptions
Quilt dimensions are the finished quilt-top dimensions before binding. Fabric widths are usable widths after selvages. You choose the margins and seam allowances for your method. Calculations run in inches internally; centimetres are converted without rounding the stored measurements.
Binding estimates cover straight-grain strips, not bias binding. Backing compares rectangular panels and accounts for both sides of every joining seam. HST estimates use the two-at-a-time method with starter squares rounded up to the next quarter inch, including a minimum-size check for custom seam allowances.
Purchase rounding
Binding and backing purchase estimates round up to the next eighth of a yard. Your shop may sell in larger increments. These estimates do not automatically add shrinkage, directional-pattern matching or a separate safety margin. Adjust the inputs to suit your fabric and check the plan before cutting.
Your projects belong to you
Saved projects and your last valid calculator settings stay in this browser’s local storage. Unsaved edits are recovered separately in each tab using session storage; this recovery is not a saved project and ends when the tab is closed. Use Update project or Save project to keep your changes. A JSON export is a portable backup; the print action opens your browser’s print dialog, where you can print on paper or choose Save as PDF if supported.
Feedback and calculation questions
Have a suggestion or spotted a calculation that does not look right? Email support@toolconv.com. For a calculation question, include the calculator name, the units and input values you used, and the result you expected. Share only the details you choose to include; the email link does not automatically attach your locally saved projects or measurements.
